Above a fireplace is the job most people should not DIY. Two things matter: anchoring into masonry that will hold for years, and keeping the TV out of the heat rising off the firebox. We check both before we drill.
How we do it
Heat check first
We look at your mantel depth and firebox clearance before anything else. If a spot would cook the TV, we say so and find the fix.
Proper masonry anchors
Sleeve anchors into brick faces, epoxy anchors into stone. Never the mortar joints, never plastic plugs.
Tile and stone drilling
Diamond bits, slow speeds, and a dust shroud with a vacuum on every hole. Hearth and mantel covered before we start.
Honest add-on pricing
Above-fireplace adds $35 to the base price. Brick adds $35, uneven stone or tile $50. That is the whole surcharge.

Fireplace Mounting questions
Is it safe to mount a TV over a fireplace?
With a gas insert and a mantel that pushes heat forward, usually yes. With an open wood-burning box and no mantel, heat can shorten the TV life, and we will tell you before we drill.
What does over-fireplace mounting cost?
Base price by TV size, plus $35 for above-fireplace, plus the wall surface: brick adds $35, uneven stone or tile adds $50. A 65" on brick above a fireplace runs $109 + $35 + $35.
Can wires be hidden in a masonry wall?
Not inside the masonry itself. We route them into adjacent drywall where possible, or use a paintable channel for $30.
Will the TV sit too high?
We measure from your seating position, not a rule of thumb, and set the lowest height your mantel allows.
